加纳共和国
The Republic of Ghana　　


位于非洲西部、几内亚湾北岸，西邻科特迪瓦，北接布基纳法索，东毗多哥，南濒大西洋，海岸线长约562公里。沿海平原和西南部阿散蒂高原属热带雨林气候，沃尔特河谷和北部高原地区属热带草原气候。4月至9月为雨季，11月至翌年4月为旱季。各地降雨量差别很大，西南部平均年降雨量2180毫米，北部地区为1000毫米。

历史沿革

1957年3月6日，黄金海岸更名为加纳，并独立。阿散蒂保护国（Ashanti Protectorate）成为阿散蒂地区。黄金海岸殖民地（Gold Coast colony，首府阿克拉）分为东部地区、西部地区。北部保护领地（Northern Territory protectorate）和上沃尔特多哥兰委任统治地（Trans-Volta Togoland trust territory）的北部，成立北部地区（Northern region）。上沃尔特多哥兰的剩余部分，加上黄金海岸殖民地的Anlo and Tongu local council areas，成立沃尔特地区。共计5个地区，东部、西部、阿散蒂、北部、沃尔特。

1959年4月4日，阿散蒂地区分为阿散蒂地区、布朗阿哈福地区。
1960年7月1日，北部地区分为北部地区、上部地区（Upper region，首府博尔加坦加）。
1970年7月，西部地区（首府海岸角）分为西部地区（首府塞康第）、中部地区（首府海岸角）。不久，塞康第和塔科拉迪合并为塞康第-塔科拉迪市，为西部地区首府。
1982年7月23日，阿克拉首都区（Accra capital district）和阿达地方委员会辖区（Ada local council area）从东部地区分出，形成大阿克拉地区（Greater Accra）。
1983年，上部地区分为上东地区、上西地区。

1988年，地方政府体系重组，设立65个区。这应该是效仿了英国1974年的地方政府改革。
截止2000年1月1日，分为110个区（district），其中3个为 **市政局 Metropolis District（阿克拉、库马西、塞康第-塔科拉迪）、4个 *市议会 Municipal District（特马、New Juaben（科福里杜亚）、海岸角、塔马利）。
普通区下为市区（34 urban council）、镇（250 town council）、乡（826 area council）。
都市区（含市政局、市议会）下设分区（sub-metropolitan district），并进一步分为镇。
这一体系当是英国1889年体系影响的遗留。
2003年11月12日，新增19个区（district）。同月，再增4个区。同时有多个普通区被升格为都市区。
2004年3月19日，北部地区新增5个区（district）。至此有138个区（district）。
2008年，又新设和升格一批区，达到170个区。2010年人口普查时，共有37个市议会 Municipal District（Mun.D.），6个市政局 Metropolis District（Metr.D.）。

2012年，再新设和升格一批，达到216个区。

2010年人口普查时，共有37个市议会 Municipal District（Mun.D.），6个市政局 Metropolis District（Metr.D.）。下表中类型一栏未经注明的为市议会（Municipal District），相当于英国的Borough。都市区即Metropolis District（市政局）。
